Revd Ric Stott is a Methodist minister, artist, art psychotherapist and co-founder of 35 Chapel Walk Art Space. He lives and works in Sheffield, UK finding inspiration from diverse experiences studying medical science, theology and art psychotherapy. He explores ideas around sexuality and spirituality and the impact of place on our sense of self.
Painting for the artist is an exercise in fully embodied spirituality. Some of Ric's paintings emerged from his experiences of travel to places such as Iona, the Philippines and the Pacific coast of California. They explore encountering the wilderness and resonances with other, deeper, aspects of his life.
His current work explores the experience of his time by the Pacific Ocean and how it changed his spirituality and sense of self. In addition he is working on a series of work investigating the notion of the sublime and the queer body.
